Level 2 Tooling: Explanation

This part can be made from a mold with the cavity cut into both halves. The mold split is planar (flat) and there are no areas of the mold that extend from one half into the other.

Many otherwise more complex parts can be molded at this level by simply changing geometry so that holes in the part “meet in the middle.”

Level Two Injection Mold

Wall thickness’ for the entire part should be as uniform as possible. Plenty of draft should be incorporated throughout the part as well wherever possible, especially on interior areas of the parts where material will shrink as it cools.
